Cotton is the standard for polo shirts and the reason the style works the way it does. Piqué cotton — that familiar textured weave — breathes well, holds its shape and keeps a collar standing rather than flopping, which is why it became the tennis and golf standard and stayed there. The range covers piqué and smoother jersey cotton polos, short and long sleeve, with two and three-button plackets in plain colours alongside stripes and tipped collars.
Weave is the main choice. Piqué has more texture and structure, hides creases better and stands up to repeated wear. Jersey cotton is softer and drapes closer, nearer to a T-shirt in feel. Pima and other long-staple cottons resist bobbling longest, which matters on a polo more than most garments since the collar and placket take the most friction.
The collar is where a cotton polo shows its age first. A well-ribbed one keeps its form; a thin one loses shape within months and takes the shirt with it. Hang rather than fold. Sizing generally follows your T-shirt size, though slim-fit polos cut closer through the chest and shoulders. Wear with chinos or trousers, jeans or shorts. Browse all men's polo shirts.
